Roman Reigns Reportedly Set To Miss Hell In A Cell

By James Holder. Published 12th May 2022.
Roman Reigns WWE Universal Championship

A new report has claimed that Roman Reigns is set to miss Hell in a Cell on June 5th, as speculation continues to swirl over his summer schedule.

In recent weeks, Roman Reigns’ in-ring future has become the source of much debate. It was Reigns himself who actually sparked the speculation after hinting that he might be taking some time away at a recent live event.

This was followed by reports suggesting that he would be going on hiatus during the summer, after it was noted that he had been pulled from advertising for numerous upcoming shows. However, it was later clarified that Reigns won’t be missing for an extended period, instead, he would be working a lighter house show schedule.

While that was thought to be the end of the story, there is seemingly more to it.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that the Tribal Chief will miss Hell in a Cell on June 5th, before returning for Money in the Bank and SummerSlam. He went on to liken his schedule to that of Brock Lesnar, who has traditionally not appeared at every television taping, but has wrestled as major shows.

“Basically, Roman Reigns is not gonna be on every pay-per-view. He’s off the Chicago show, which is the next pay-per-view on June 5 (Hell in a Cell). He will be doing pay-per-views this summer. Even though he was removed from all the advertising from June 24 – yeah June 24 in Austin, he’s been removed from all advertising, from house shows, TVs, except for the two stadium shows – but he will do TVs to build up those (stadium) shows.

So it’s not like he’s not gonna be on TV, but he’s not gonna be doing a lot of dates and from what I understand, the shows he’s gonna be on, sooner or later, they’ll start advertising him. So the dates will be known, it’s not like they’re gonna put him on TV without advertising him. But that’s the basic situation. I think he’s gonna be on more shows than Lesnar, but not appreciably more.”

Roman Reigns was most recently in action at WrestleMania Backlash where he teamed with The Usos to defeat RK-Bro and Drew McIntyre.
