Roman Reigns has sensationally threatened to leave WWE should he fail to beat John Cena at SummerSlam.
The Universal Champion made the claim as he went face to face with Cena on the final episode of SmackDown before the summer spectacular.
After a fiery war of words the previous week, the latest meeting delivered much of the same. Reigns initially said that Cena had lied to the fans by saying that he was going to beat him at SummerSlam. Paul Heyman then pointed out that “this Roman Reigns” had never been beaten.
In response, Cena said that even though he’s away to shoot a movie after SummerSlam that won’t stop him winning the championship. He promised to win the title and return at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas.
Reigns said that he’d dominated everyone put in front of him, adding that he could go to Hollywood if he wanted to. That’s when things got interesting. Reigns reasoned that seeing as the match was taking place in Las Vegas, it was time to raise the stakes. The champion then shockingly promised to quit WWE if he lost to Cena.
“It’s Vegas right? Let’s raise the stakes. Either I’m leaving that stadium as the Universal Champion or I’m leaving WWE.”
The pair shook hands to seal the deal, but Reigns tried to sneak attack the challenger in the process. However, Cena quickly countered, rolling up The Tribal Chief just to prove that he can pin him for one, two three.
The show went off the air with Cena taunting the champion as he headed back up the ramp.
Away from SmackDown, Reigns recently also had some choice words for new AEW signee CM Punk. Speaking to BT Sports, the Head of the Table claimed that Punk wasn’t “as good or as over” as John Cena or The Rock.
