Roman Reigns Reportedly Behind An Unpopular WWE Change After His Return

Roman Reigns WWE RAW Return 2025 July SummerSlam

Since Solo Sikoa claimed the position of The Tribal Chief following Roman Reigns’ defeat to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL in April 2024, Reigns had been on a mission to prove that he was the sole Tribal Chief of WWE. Upon his return at SummerSlam last year, he was deemed as the “Original Tribal Chief” and sometimes as the “Only Tribal Chief.”

His return on RAW last night has come with yet another new moniker: “OTC1,” or “Original Tribal Chief One.” The “O” in OTC stands for “Original,” as pointed out by a fan on social media. The fan claimed that “Original” and “#1” meant the same thing, so the new moniker did not make sense.

Joe Anoa’i, AKA Roman Reigns, Behind His New Moniker on WWE TV

The fan’s post on X/Twitter caught the attention of “WrestleVotes,” who revealed that the new name was “Joe Anoa’i’s idea.” Regardless of how one feels about this unpopular decision, Reigns remains one of the strongest babyfaces WWE has in 2025, and he received a raucous welcome from the Birmingham crowd last night.

The audience was clearly excited to see The Tribal Chief back, after he was written off television in April. This came after Paul Heyman turned on him and aligned with Seth Rollins, who is now out of action owing to an injury he sustained during his match against LA Knight at the recently concluded Saturday Night’s Main Event.

In the closing moments of RAW, Reigns was seen mouthing to Heyman that his former Wiseman had messed up. It seems clear that The Tribal Chief is going after his former manager for what happened at WrestleMania 41 and the ensuing episode of RAW after the PLE, earlier this year. The question is, how will this play out in the ring come SummerSlam?

Rollins is out of the picture, for now. Meanwhile, CM Punk prevailed in RAW’s main event Gauntlet Match, punching his ticket to The Biggest Party of the Summer, where he will challenge World Heavyweight Champion Gunther for the title.
