Roman Reigns has said that he hopes his SummerSlam match with Brock Lesnar will be their last as it “hurts” to share the ring with The Beast.
At SummerSlam on July 30th, Roman Reigns will step into the ring with Brock Lesnar as he seeks to retain his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in a Last Man Standing Match.
The bout will serve as the final instalment of their trilogy of matches since Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam a year ago. In the lead up to the clash, WWE have suggested that it will be the final time that the two men will meet in the ring, something at least Roman Reigns hopes is true.
During an appearance on NBC’s TODAY show, the Tribal Chief discussed what it was like to share a ring with Lesnar, commenting he hopes this will be the last time, as their matches are brutal affairs.
“I hope it’s the last time. It hurts. It’s brutal being in the ring with Brock. He’s a big ol’ country boy and has such a great, legitimate background. He started as an amateur wrestler, all the way through the collegiate ranks, into the UFC, heavyweight champion. He’s dominated WWE for a long time. The only problem he has is Roman Reigns showed up and took over. It’s going to be great,”
Although, Reigns added that he feels great less than a week away from their upcoming battle.
“I feel great. I’m on a course now to do something that no one has ever done, dominate Brock Lesnar. We’re really entering that kind of timeframe in my career where I’m really pushing myself to a different level and trying to achieve things that have never been done before. Anytime you can beat Brock Lesnar three times in a row, that’s pretty good. That’s a feather in the cap.”
Following Lesnar’s return at SummerSlam 2021, Reigns has defeated his rival at Crown Jewel and WrestleMania 38.
