At Survivor Series Roman Reigns led The Bloodline into battle inside WarGames against Sheamus, Butch, Kevin Owens, Drew McIntyre and Ridge Holland. After almost 40 minutes of chaos, it was The Bloodline who earned the win, but the victory wasn’t without controversy.
Once backstage Reigns was said to be angry and upset about one particular spot, and launched into an expletive-filled rant to make his feelings known. The incident in question also involved Kevin Owens, and the Tribal Chief was concerned that he had ruptured his left eardrum. Despite tensions running high it was later suggested that everything was calmed down relatively quickly, with the incident being put down as ‘one of those things.’
Roman Reigns Asked To Work With Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn
The accident which caused Reigns’ anger involved Owens fully connecting with a slap which left the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion with a bruise under his left eye. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now offered more insight into the situation.
As well as the slap itself, which did cause cause an injury to Reigns’ eardrum, the star was upset that he was unaware that the slap was coming. While some claimed that the aftermath blew over in “20 minutes,” others claimed that wasn’t accurate. However, in neither instance was Reigns upset enough to demand not to work with Owens or change any booking plans.
Although, the report adds that Reigns had specifically asked to work with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as part of his current storyline, this further complicated the situation.
“It fell into the category of sh*t that happens but the idea was that after Zayn got over doing what was not supposed to be a long-term gimmick, that Reigns pretty much picked Owens and Zayn personally to work a long program with and the idea is he could have picked any two people on the roster to elevate and those were the ones he picked.
Zayn got that spot because of how well the crowd took to him in the short-term program and Owens made sense with their history and because he can talk and is a great performer.
But there was the idea he didn’t have to pick him or either of them and did, and was mad because something happened that he felt with his character should not have happened, and he also got hurt. But as noted it’s not like he was mad to the point of wanting the plans in place to change.
It was recently reported that Roman Reigns could be heading for a clash with Kevin Owens at the Royal Rumble before taking on Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber a month later
