Roman Reigns Defends Undisputed WWE Universal Championship In First Match Since SummerSlam

Roman Reigns with the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on WWE SmackDown

Roman Reigns returned to action over the weekend.

On the October 13th edition of SmackDown, Roman Reigns made his return to WWE for the first time since August 11th. In his last appearance, The Tribal Chief was stunned by a Superkick from Jey Uso.

On his return to the blue brand, Reigns interrupted John Cena. While Cena wasn’t there to challenge the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, he knew a man who was, and introduced LA Knight.

After Knight made his way to the ring to confront Reigns, he was attacked by Jimmy Uso. He manged to fend off the assault, but it had given Reigns time to escape the ring.

Later in the night, Knight took on another member of The Bloodline in Solo Sikoa. With some help from Cena, Knight was able to overcome Sikoa with a BFT for the pinfall. His celebration was short-lived, though, as Reigns laid him out with a huge Spear to close the show.

Roman Reigns returns to action at WWE live event

On October 14th, Reigns made an extremely rare appearance at a live event in Kansas City. Not only that, but he had his first match since narrowly defeating Jey Uso at SummerSlam on August 5th.

In Kansas, he put his gold on the line against his old rival Sami Zayn. Reigns once again defeated the former Bloodline member, but he wasn’t happy to leave it at that and ordered Sikoa and Jimmy Uso to assault Zayn.

LA Knight then made the save and got a measure of revenge by dropping Reigns with a BFT to end the show. You can see fan footage of the segment below.
