In the days after Survivor Series it was reported that Roman Reigns was angry and upset backstage following an incident during the main event. This was said to have been when Reigns was on the end of a slap from Kevin Owens, which he feared had left him with a ruptured eardrum.
At the time Reigns’ injury status was unclear, although the stiff shot from Owens left him with bruising under his eye. A further report has now revealed that Reigns is in fact dealing with an injury and isn’t scheduled to appear at any of WWE’s upcoming shows. This is including their special Boxing Day live event at Madison Square Garden.
Roman Reigns Injured
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Roman Reigns is in fact suffering with a ruptured eardrum. While Drew McIntyre is also out of action with the same issue. On December 5th McIntyre took to social media to reveal that he was “medically disqualified” from wrestling and so wouldn’t be appearing on the December 9th edition of SmackDown as advertised. The star had been due to team with Sheamus to take on The Usos. The report from Meltzer also states that the Irish star is “banged up” but working through any issues.
“Both Reigns and McIntyre are out of action for right now due to suffering ruptured eardrums at Survivor Series. It’s a short-term thing and both should be back soon. Reigns is not on any of the post-Christmas shows, not even MSG. McIntyre is expected back for those shows. McIntyre was hurt at Survivor Series but kept working on it through the 12/4 house show in Portland, ME, but didn’t realize he was hurt that bad until he was examined after that show. He posted being medically disqualified on 12/5 but he and WWE did not say what the exact injury was.”
McIntyre was replaced by Butch of the Brawling Brutes in the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Title match for SmackDown.
