Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar Officially Winner Takes All

WWE has confirmed that when Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar clash at WrestleMania 38, it will be for all the gold with both men’s titles on the line.

Roman Reigns’ road to WrestleMania 38 has been in little out over the last twenty months as The Tribal Chief has ruled SmackDown as Universal Champion with an iron fist. Reigns has been so dominant that he main evented WrestleMania 37 in 2021 as Universal Champion, seeing off the combined challenge of WWE Hall Of Famer Edge and Daniel Bryan.

Brock Lesnar’s path to the fifth WrestleMania main event of his career has been more fraught than his opponents. Lesnar returned to action in October 2021 after 19 months on the shelf as the pandemic took hold of wrestling and the world. In his return bout at Crown Jewel, Lesnar was unsuccessful in challenging Reigns for the Universal Title, thanks in large part to The Usos.

A return match was due to take place at Day 1 but Reigns had to withdraw from the event due to COVID. Brock Lesnar was then inserted into the WWE Championship match and won that title for the 6th time from Big E. The Beast Incarnate held that title until the Royal Rumble when he was defeated by Bobby Lashley following interference from Reigns and the dastardly Paul Heyman.

Brock Lesnar would not be denied, however, and he took his place as the 30th entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match for the second time in his career. Lesnar wasted no time in letting the world know that he was challenging Roman Reigns for the Universal Title, in the presumed night 2 main event but promised to make the match even bigger by defeating Bobby Lashley for the WWE Title at Elimination Chamber and making his WrestleMania clash ‘champion vs. champion,’ and that’s exactly what he did.

Now WWE.com has confirmed that the third WrestleMania main event bout between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns will be ‘winner take all’ with both championships on the line.

This will be the third time that such a match has headlined The Show Of Shows. Back at WrestleMania 6, it was Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior competing with both Hogan’s WWF Title and Warrior’s Intercontinental Title up for grabs.

In 2019 at WrestleMania 35, it was winner take all when women headlined the show for the first time ever. Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair put their titles on the line in a Triple Threat match that also included Becky Lynch. At the end of the night, it was The Man standing tall and Becky Two Belts was born.
