Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have shared the ring on a number of marquee cards – but it wasn’t always easy sailing for Reigns.
Together, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have enjoyed seven singles encounters together, beginning at WrestleMania 31 and concluding just recently at SummerSlam in what was billed as their final one-on-one match together. All of those were contested for at least one WWE World Championship.
Discussing his rivalry with ‘The Beast Incarnate’ during his appearance on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, Roman Reigns addressed what, exactly, makes Lesnar so tough to work against:
“F*cking Brock Lesnar, man, he picks you up and throws you on your head – there’s nothing nice about that. It’s very tough to work with a human being like that – that some call him, like, the alpha male of our species. And it’s true, he really is what he is. I mean, he’s a great businessman, but at the same time he has a legitimate background of MMA that when you get in the ring, there has to be some kind of protection of that legitimacy.”
Roman Reigns elaborated, alleging that while not just anyone can go toe-to-toe with Brock Lesnar, there will be a lot of eyes on the match regardless:
“We can’t just put them in there with anybody. But at the same time, when you get in there with them, you kind of understand it’s gonna be a bit of a ride, but there’s gonna be a lot of eyeballs on it. So that always makes it better.”
Roman Reigns last wrestled Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, defeating Lesnar in an acclaimed Last Man Standing match to remain the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The match saw Lesnar take a number of big blows to the head before Reigns was declared the victor, while Brock also tipped the ring with a tractor.
Reigns is now scheduled to defend the championship against Logan Paul on 5 November at WWE Crown Jewel. The match was officially confirmed during a press conference in Las Vegas.
