As Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns’ WrestleMania future has never been in doubt… until now.
Thirty men faced off at the 2023 Royal Rumble for a chance to face the Tribal Chief on the Grandest Stage of Them All, and in the end, Cody Rhodes emerged victorious. With his win, Rhodes hopes to accomplish what his legendary father and brother couldn’t: winning the WWE Championship.
However, while Rhodes was away from television due to a torn pectoral muscle, Sami Zayn emerged as a fan favorite as part of The Bloodline. Though he’d proved his loyalty to the group time and time again, he reached his breaking point after the main event of the Royal Rumble that saw Reigns defeat his longtime friend Kevin Owens.
Though Zayn did everything asked of him during the bout, he snapped when Reigns handed him a chair after the bout and demanded that he attack Owens, who was handcuffed to the ring. Instead, Zayn shockingly hit Roman Reigns in the back instead, severing ties with The Bloodline he’d fought so hard to join.
On the following episode of SmackDown, Zayn demanded a match with Reigns at the upcoming Elimination Chamber in his hometown of Monteral, hoping to dethrone the Tribal Chief and secure his own path to WrestleMania.
Roman Reigns Commented On The Emotional Segment Between Cody Rhodes And Sami Zayn On WWE Raw
Zayn’s popularity and quest to beat Reigns in Montreal has called into question the WrestleMania main event that seemed a done deal following Rhodes’ Rumble win. On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Zayn came face to face with Cody Rhodes in a promo segment that’s been universally praised by fans across the WWE Universe.
When Rhodes asked Zayn if he was cable of defeating Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber and becoming Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Zayn admitted that while he believes in himself as a main eventer, he doesn’t know if he’s capable of that particular victory.
Rhodes pointed out that the crowd believes in Zayn, and says he doesn’t want to see the former Bloodline member on Raw again next week; instead, he wants to see him at WrestleMania so that Sami can finish his story.
Taking to TikTok, the Tribal Chief himself responded to Rhodes attempting to hype up Zayn before the biggest match of his career, saying that his former ally doesn’t stand a chance.
“If you gotta have a pep rally to convince each other that you can beat me, you don’t stand a chance. I’ll see you in Montreal.”
Everybody thinks they’re the guy, until they meet THE GUY!!
