Roman Reigns shares his reaction as his uncle and wrestling legend Afa Anoa’i passed away today at the age of 81.
Son of the WWE Hall of Famer, Samu Anoa’i shared the news of his passing on August 16th on his Facebook account.
It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of my father Afa Anoai Sr. It was a peaceful transition and he was surrounded by loved ones. Please respect our privacy as we morn our father.”
One half of the legendary tag-team, The Wild Samoans, he enjoyed an illustrious career in the Stamford-based promotion and was inducted into the 2007 Hall of Fame. His brother, Sika also passed away back in June this year.
As the news of Afa Anoa’i’s death went public, The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns broke his silence on X(Twitter). Just weeks after his father’s death, Reigns now has to mourn his uncle’s demise.
Our family has suffered another great loss with the passing of my uncle and WWE Hall of Famer, Gataivasā Afa Amituana’i Anoa’i. We thank everyone for their support and are comforted by the fact that he now rests in peace. Afa and my father, Pola’ivao Leati Sika Anoa’I were loving brothers, the greatest tag team of their generation, and now they’re reunited together in heaven. Rest in Power Wild Samoans.”
In recent news, Roman Reigns has seemingly been pulled from an upcoming WWE SmackDown show.
Afa Anoa’i Loses Battle To Long-Term Health Issues
The wrestling veteran has been battling several health issues before his death. Earlier this year, he had been hospitalized with pneumonia and two heart surgeries. Prior to his passing away, Samu Anoa’i had posted another message on his Facebook.
“As we embark on your final journey home, we express our heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering love and guidance you have bestowed upon us throughout our lives. We find solace in knowing that you will soon be reunited with the Lord Jesus, your parents, siblings, and friends who have gone before us.”
