Roman Reigns Awarded New Undisputed WWE Universal Title, The Bloodline Shattered

Roman Reigns at Night of Champions on WWE SmackDown

On SmackDown Roman Reigns celebrated 1000 days as World Champion, but there was more heartache ahead.

The closing segment began with Triple H presenting a new Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to Reigns, and at least initially he and Paul Heyman were all smiles.

The Tribal Chief hit the 1000-day milestone at Night of Champions and come the big night on the blue brand, his Universal Title reign stands at 1006 days. Meanwhile, he has held the WWE Championship since WrestleMania 38, 425 days ago.

Only Bob Backlund, Bruno Sammartino, Hulk Hogan, and Pedro Morales have held WWE World Championship gold longer than Roman Reigns.

However, the celebrations were soon over with The Usos interrupting proceedings. Once in the ring, Reigns ordered Jey to kick Jimmy in the face for doing the same to him at Night of Champions. While Jey looked pensive and uncertain, Jimmy stood tall in the face of his new rival.

Jimmy spoke up first explaining that he was being a brother, not the Tribal Chief, and was protecting his family. He went on to call out Reigns for using the pair, telling Solo Sikoa he will do the same to him.

A visibly annoyed Reigns then handed a microphone to Sikoa and told him to speak for himself. The Bloodline’s (mostly) silent enforcer said that he acknowledged his Tribal Chief but Jimmy was his brother, moving to stand next to The Usos. With Reigns shaken, a massive “Holy sh*t” chant thundered around the arena.

Roman Reigns Destroys What’s Left Of The Bloodline

As Reigns stepped to Jimmy, Jimmy shoved him in the face as Reigns had done to him. This set Jey into action who acted as peace-maker and tried to get everyone back on side. Eventually, Jimmy agreed and made a case for the family to reunite. This led to an emotional Reigns hugging Jimmy and The Bloodline very briefly being back on the same page.

However, in a move that echoed Michael Corleone in The Godfather when he knew he had been betrayed by Fredo, Reigns only accepted the reconciliation to set up further punishment.

Reigns simply said “no” to reuniting the group, leaving Sikoa to hit Jimmy with the Spike. The wrestling equivalent of being taken out in a boat and shot in the back of the head. (R.I.P Fredo)
