At night two of WrestleMania 37 Roman Reigns overcame both Edge and Daniel Bryan to retain his coveted WWE Universal Championship.
For more than 20 brutal minutes the three Superstars went to war. Each man with a different point to prove, but equally determined to leave with the gold. However, it would be Roman Reigns left standing at the end of the night, after pinning Edge and Bryan simultaneously.
As ever, the man standing side by side with the victorious Tribal Chief was Paul Heyman. But Paul Heyman wouldn’t be Paul Heyman if he didn’t also have one eye on the future.
Having helped introduce the world to ‘The Next Big Thing’ Brock Lesnar in 2002, Heyman has gained a reputation as a man who’s always aligned himself with the best young stars in WWE’s recent history.
The former owner of ECW has already heaped praise on one of WWE’s latest recruits Parker Boudreaux, and he has now also been pictured with amateur wrestling star Gable Steveson.
Steveson, who is an NCAA Champion, winner of the Danny Hodge Trophy and member of the American wrestling team for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games, has been linked with WWE for a number of months.
Posting on social media, Heyman shared a photo of himself, Reigns and Steveson backstage at WrestleMania with the caption “Presented live backstage from WWE WrestleMania for future historical reference.”
Speaking after NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, Triple H revealed on a media call that Steveson is yet to sign any agreement with WWE. However, he later added that the two parties were fans of the other, and that Steveson would make an “amazing” WWE Superstar.”
He’s got a bright future in anything that he decides to do. But he’s a massive fan of what we do. And I am a massive fan, as we all are, of what he can bring to the table here. And if he does make the decision to come here and want to want to become a WWE Superstar, I have no doubt he will do it, do it in record time and be amazing at it.”
For his part Steveson recently shared his own photo with Paul Heyman in the lead up to WrestleMania.
