A former Ring of Honor Champion who recently signed with NXT debuted at the latest set of NXT Level Up tapings!
Former ROH Women’s Champion Rok-C’s wrestling career began in earnest when she began training under WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T at the age of just 16. The native Texan competed for Booker’s Reality Of Wrestling promotion before first appearing for Ring Of Honor in the spring of 2021.
The timing couldn’t have been better for Rok-C as she was soon involved in the tournament to crown the first-ever Ring Of Honor Women’s Champion after the demise of the old Women Of Honor Title. The youngster saw off Sumie Sakai, Quinn McKay, and Angelina Love before defeating Miranda Alize in the tournament final to become the inaugural champion.
Rok-C held the ROH Women’s Championship until the January 13th edition of IMPACT where she lost the title to Deonna Purrazzo in a ‘Winner Take All’ match with Purrazzo’s AAA Reina de Reinas Championship also on the line.
After it was confirmed that the star had officially signed with WWE back in March, anticipation began to build as to when she would make her official in-ring debut. According to PWInsider, that day has come as she made an appearance at the latest NXT: Level Up tapings, now using the name Roxanne Perez. The report notes that she’s been present at a number of NXT tapings in the past.
In an interview with PWInsider in October of 2021, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T had high praise for his former student, saying that she represents her wrestling school with pride.
“Rok-C, she’s been part of Reality of Wrestling since she was about 10 years old. Okay? And then she becomes the youngest Reality of Wrestling champion after only a few months of training. She’s a prodigy. She’s definitely one that’s going to have a really, really bright future. And she’s representing Reality of Wrestling to the utmost. I couldn’t choose anyone better from the female perspective to represent Reality of Wresting. And she’s doing such an awesome job.”
Another former Ring of Honor star who made her NXT Level Up debut back in February is Kelly Kincaid, formerly known as Quinn McKay. She serves as the ring announcer for the brand.
During her time competing as Quinn McKay, the broadcaster made her Ring of Honor in-ring debut against Angelina Love as part of her feud with The Allure. She later competed in the ROH Women’s Championship Tournament, defeating Mandy Leon in the first round but falling victim to eventual champion Rok-C in the second.
