Robert Roode returned to WWE this past Monday on Raw when he answered WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre’s open challenge in the main event of the show.
Though his return to the red brand was less than glorious thanks to a defeat to the Scottish powerhouse, Roode’s return and placement in the main event had lead many fans to hope that his time to shine has finally arrived after calling for his promotion to main event status for several years.
Roode has been absent from WWE since Elimination Chamber on March 8, 2020, stuck in Canada thanks to tight travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was reported last week that WWE had plans for his return now restrictions had been eased.
Robert Roode’s return to Monday Night Raw would seem to put rumours to bed that he will return to NXT at TakeOver 31.
On the September 23rd edition of the black and yellow brand, NXT aired a video of a mysterious former NXT Champion announcing their return on October 4th. The video, shot entirely in night vision, saw the figure smashing a case full of NXT titles before promising to take back what was rightfully theirs. Robert Roode was one of the names heavily rumoured to be under the hood.
What the future holds for ‘The Glorious One’ remains to be seen.
Inside the Ropes will keep you updated as soon as any concrete plans surface regarding plans for Roode on WWE’s main roster.
