A new report clarifies when Road Dogg officially took over as Vice President of Live Events after Jeff Jarrett’s WWE departure.
After calling time on his in-ring career in 2015, Road Dogg transitioned into a full-time backstage role with WWE. Over the following seven years, the Attitude Era star worked in a number of roles including as a producer, writer and latterly a trainer in NXT, where he focused on promos and character development.
Since the brand became NXT 2.0 in September 2021, it’s undergone numerous changes, with a significant turnover of staff backstage. In January 2022, Road Dogg was released by the company alongside the likes of William Regal and Samoa Joe.
However, on August 22nd, it was reported that Road Dogg was back in the company following Vince McMahon’s retirement and Triple H taking over as Executive Vice President of Talent Relations as well as head of WWE creative.
The news of the DX star’s return comes after it was reported that Jeff Jarrett left the company, and it was later reported that Road Dogg was stepping into the position that had been occupied by Jarrett, who’d only returned to WWE in May and had been working as Senior Vice President of Live Events.
Now, a new report from PWInsider clarifies that Road Dogg officially took over from Jeff Jarrett in the final week of August, closely following reports of his return to the company.
The two men have history in the company, with Road Dogg being the actual voice behind Jarrett’s hit single With My Baby Tonight. During Jarrett’s induction into the 2018 class of the WWE Hall of Fame, the two sang a rendition of the country tune, much to the delight of the audience.
