Road Dog may never have been WWE Championship himself, but the star spent much of his career surrounded by some of the best to ever do it.
During his run with D-X in particular, Road Dogg was a regular fixture alongside Triple H and tangled with the likes of The Rock, Steve Austin, and The Undertaker on a regular basis. This arguably puts him in a perfect position to be able to determine who will, and who won’t reach the top of the WWE mountain.
Since hanging up his boots the WWE Hall of Famer has held a variety of roles backstage and was appointed Senior Vice President of Live Events in August 2022. Despite this, the star remains as outspoken as ever.
Road Dogg Predicts Big Things For Judgment Day Star
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast Oh You Didn’t Know, the veteran was asked about Dominik Mysterio and Judgment Day. While Road Dogg praised Mysterio, he also talked up Damian Priest and predicted that he will go on to become Universal Champion.
“I’ll tell you who’s really impressed me the most lately is Damian Priest,” Road Dogg said. “He has come so far. You can say what you want about Dom Mysterio. He’s got the most heat than anybody in the company right now. I see the live events and read the reports, so I know. He’s actually coming into his own and the in-ring stuff too, and really hanging out with the right crowd, that’s for dang sure and doing the right things.
Think about the people that Damian Priest is surrounded by, Finn Balor, Rhea, Dom, he’s even in that group stepping out and shining. I predict he’ll be a Universal Champion one day. I do believe that and I believe he could carry it.”
The Universal Championship has been held by Roman Reigns for a staggering 888 days and counting. While Reigns also holds the WWE Championship which he won back at WrestleMania 38. It has been announced that the Head of the Table will put the Undisputed WWE Universal Title on the line against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber.
Meanwhile, Damian Priest recently had his own brush with The Bloodline as he and Dominik tried and failed to win the Raw Tag Team Titles from The Usos.
