Road Dogg Believes Jeff Hardy Should Get A Second Chance

Road Dogg has said that he believes Jeff Hardy should be given another chance after his recent legal struggles.

On June 13th, Jeff Hardy was arrested and charged for DUI. Officers at the scene noted that the star was unable to complete any of the standard sobriety tests, while in footage of the arrest, Hardy appears very unsteady on his feet.

Following the news of his latest legal troubles, Hardy was suspended without by pay by AEW, although the company has pledged to assist the star as he seeks treatment for his substance abuse issues.

The incident has naturally led to speculation not just around Hardy’s AEW future, but his future in the wrestling industry. The former World Champion has battled addiction and substance abuse for a number of years, while finding himself on the wrong side of the law more than once.

Speaking on a recent episode of his ‘Oh… you didn’t know’ podcast, Road Dogg, who has had his own well documented issues with addiction, offered his thoughts on the situation. The WWE Hall of Famer explained that he felt Hardy deserved another chance.

“People love underdogs, people believe in second chances. America’s built on second chances and WWE was dang sure built on second chances. And the fact that Jeff deserves one, you know what I mean? He’s, he’s been living hard, and it’s time to stop now.

Now look, he has to be ready, he has to be ready and willing to do whatever it takes to stop living that way. I didn’t know living a different way was a possibility for me.

I thought and I say this all the time, and so you probably drink to this too. But I didn’t care which handful of pills killed me, and I was wondering which one was going to do it and when you know what I mean? And it was just living crazy like that, you don’t have to live like that ever again. And it’s okay.

And, man, I hope he realises that now. But it’s not easy, it’s not easy to get off that vicious merry go round, man, you got to reach out somebody’s got to pull you off, kinda. And so that’s maybe where we’re at right now.”

It has also been revealed that The Hardys were originally scheduled to win the AEW World Tag Team Titles at Dynamite Road Rager, but plans were changed after concerns were raised over Jeff Hardy’s condition at Double or Nothing.
