Road Dogg Recalls Angering Dusty Rhodes After Match With Cody

Road Dogg & Cody Rhodes

Road Dogg has recalled getting himself on the wrong side of Dusty Rhodes following a match he had with Cody on Monday Night Raw.

After appearing sporadically across the previous three years, the New Age Outlaws found themselves back together in early 2014. The legendary team managed to roll back the years and win the WWE Tag Team Titles for a sixth time.

During this run, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn squared off against Cody Rhodes and Goldust in a Cage Match on Raw. With the match in full swing, Cody performed a Moonsault from the top of the cage onto Road Dogg who was waiting below.

However, while the two men involved were happy with how the spot turned out, Dusty Rhodes was apparently less than impressed.

Speaking on his podcast, Oh… You Didn’t Know, Road Dogg recalled the elder Rhodes being “p*ssed” as he thought the WWE Hall of Famer hadn’t caught his son properly, making the move unsafe.

“I told him I’m not going to catch you in a 69, I’m not going to catch you perfectly,” Road Dogg said, regarding Cody’s moonsault spot during their match. “He said ‘all I need you to do is stick your arm out there,’ and I said I’ll do that. They cut to a different camera, it looked great but Dusty was p*ssed. When I went to NXT not long after that, he apologized to me.”

“That’s the truth, Dusty said ‘hey man, that’s my baby boy,’ I said ‘Dusty, you don’t have to apologize to me, I totally understand.’ That’s what it is, I had no problem with Dusty wanting to protect his child and being interested in his child’s safety.”

Cody Rhodes recently returned to WWE after six years away, defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38. Despite picking up the win, the rivalry between the two stars has continued and they are now scheduled to meet one more time at WrestleMania Backlash.
