Tension came to a boiling point online between Ricochet and one rising WWE NXT star who had no kind words to say about AEW President Tony Khan.

AEW’s Ricochet stirred up an online battle of words today that saw Je’Von Evans clap back. When a fan on social media wrote that Evans was the “best young prospect in wrestling,” the AEW star wrote:

“I’d squash him.”

It didn’t take long for Evans to respond in a series of now-deleted posts, writing:

My Bad. I Just Got Done Training At The Performance Center, Under Shawn Michaels. Something That You Don’t Have Or Do BUT, I Bet Yo Brown Egg Head Ass Would Squash Me If Tony Told You To [shrug emoji] Much Love OG [flaming hear emoji] #TheYoungOG #TupacOfThisGeneration

Ricochet didn’t hesitate to point to his own history at the Performance Center and his accomplishments in WWE:

Brother, I was learning from Shawn Michael’s when you was like 12. Then went on to become multiple time Champion. Let me know when you win one, little boy.

And yeah, if Tony asked me, I’d definitely beat yo ahh, cuh. [crown emoji]

“Sounds Like Tony Khan Isn’t Giving You Enough Attention” – Je’Von Evans To Ricochet

Evans’ next series of posts contained pointed shots at AEW President Tony Khan as well as insults toward Ricochet’s current career path:

You Learned From HBK When I Was 12 And Became A Multiple Time Champion. Now, You’re Wrestling In Front Of 2,000 People, Every Week, For A Crackhead. Talk About An Upgrade Am I Right?? [laughing emoji] #TheYoungOG

Sounds Like Mr. Khan Isn’t Giving You Enough Attention. Sooooooooo, You Had To Come For A Successful Ass Youngin [100 emoji] You’re Giving Me The Most Views On My Post And I’m Finally Helping You Get The Most Attention You’ve Ever Had In Your Career [shrug emoji] All Love [winking emoji, flaming heart emoji]

Evans deleted his posts from social media shortly after writing them.

When Did Ricochet Sign With AEW?

Back in June of 2024, PWInsider reported that Ricochet had given notice that he would not be renewing his contract when it expired. Soon after, speculation emerged that the star could be AEW-bound.

The star officially became a free agent on July 1st, narrowly ruling out an appearance at Forbidden Door on June 30th as he was still under contract. However, after reports that he’d signed a multi-year deal with the company, Ricochet made his AEW debut at All In on August 25th.

In recent news, Ricochet is set to face former WWE star Zach Gowen at the upcoming AEW Dynamite: Beach Break show.
