Jey Uso recently lost the WWE World Heavyweight Title to Gunther on Monday Night RAW. The star only had a 51-day run with the belt, and the loss did not sit well with his father, Hall of Famer, Rikishi.
Jey Uso won the title at WrestleMania 41 from Gunther. The Yeet Master is extremely popular among fans, and many thought he would have a lengthy run with the title. However, that was not the case as Triple H reportedly wants Gunther vs Goldberg to be for the title.
The entire creative direction for Jey Uso has not sat well with Rikishi, who is the father of Jey, Jimmy, and Solo Sikoa. While speaking on his Rikishi Fatu Off The Top Podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer blasted the company and even called for the writers to be fired. He then went on to ask what Uso had done to deserve such an underwhelming title run.
“I didn’t think it was justice. I didn’t think it was fair. 51 days, that was it. I mean, Intercontinental belt, a short run, that was it. What is it against my boy? Would you have done that to Randy Orton? Would you have done that to John Cena? I mean let’s talk about it. The last time we see in WrestleMania 41, he had the whole arena yeeting. So come on, somebody tell me. Tell me what is it?”
“The Bloodline has given our heart and soul to this industry, 75-plus years, yet this is the way we are treated. This is the way y’all look at us. It ain’t right. We’ve never been a problem. The last I knew, The Bloodline from Roman Reigns all the down to the Usos, continuing down to Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, the last I knew, when it was COVID, fans weren’t allowed, who was there? Who kept WWE afloat? You wanna go there? Let’s do facts man. Let’s do facts. This was way before TKO came into the picture. It was on the backs of The Bloodline. Give Roman Reigns their props, give Uso their props. Give them their flowers.”
Rikishi asked for WWE writers to be fired over Jey Uso booking
Earlier in the rant, Rikishi also talked about firing writers and creatives if they had nothing better planned for someone as over as Jey Uso.
The Hall of Famer was furious and could not hold back his emotions.
“I say fire. Fire those that are writing for this kid here. If you can’t come up with something simple to promote and push your champion, that you, not me, you decided to put this kid in that position. And then that’s it. All of a sudden the brains went just cloudy. You can’t write, you can’t think of an angle for Jey. Well you can’t do your job. I say best endeavors, get the hell out the way. Put somebody in that position.
Because the longer you keep the belt on this kid…we talk about what’s good for business. Merchandise sales through the roof. That’s what it is, last I know.” [H/T Cageside Seats]
Jey Uso will be part of the King of the Ring Qualifying Match on the upcoming episode of WWE RAW.
