Riho Shocks Britt Baker To Earn AEW Women’s World Title Shot

Britt Baker vs Riho on AEW Rampage

On the November 26th edition of AEW Rampage, Riho earned a title shot against Britt Baker by beating the champion in a Black Friday Deal match.

The inaugural AEW Women’s Champion received the match against Baker after it was revealed she was not officially eliminated from the Casino Battle Royal at All Out in September. Tony Schiavone informed a livid Baker she would face the Joshi superstar during a segment on the November 24th episode of Dynamite.

After exchanging a series of stiff strikes and hard-hitting moves, Riho countered a Fisherman’s Neckbreaker for a surprise roll-up victory much to Baker’s dismay.

The two stars have previously met on two occasions with the gold on the line. Way back in 2019, Baker was Riho’s first successful title defence and last year they were both part of a Four-Way Match also featuring Nyla Rose and Hikaru Shida.

At time of writing there has been no announcement regarding when the match will take place.

Britt Baker has held the AEW Women’s World Championship since defeating Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing in May. The defeat to Riho was only Baker’s third single’s loss in 2021.

The show also featured Adam Cole and Bobby Fish defeating Wheeler Yuta and Orange Cassidy and Eddie Kingston seeing off Daniel Garcia in a hard-hitting main event.
