Ricochet Wins WWE Smackdown World Cup, Will Challenge GUNTHER For IC Title

In the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the United States of America have been rolling all over their competition, getting win after win, including a 1-0 victory over Iran and dominating England in their own sport of soccer. And on the December 2, 2022 edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, the U.S. got yet another World Cup win, this time in the WWE Smackdown World Cup.

Ricochet Carries The Red, White And Blue To Victory

Ricochet has previously challenged GUNTHER before for the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a prior edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown. On the December 2, 2022 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown, he earned another title shot for the IC Title, getting the opportunity after taking out Santos Escobar in the WWE Smackdown World Cup.

He closed out the bout and got the win after the American landed a huricanrana from the top, which was followed by a super kick. Then, he once again went to the top, hitting a 630 splash to earn the tournament victory.

Ricochet took out each Mustafa Ali and Braun Strowman to advance to the final round of the WWE Smackdown World Cup. With Santos Escobar, he picked up victories against Shinsuke Nakamura, and then Butch to punch his ticket to the last round of the tournament.

The American champion will now go on to compete against GUNTHER for his WWE Intercontinental Championship, with the bout taking place on the December 16, 2022 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown.
