Ricochet is officially a free agent.
At a time when all the top stars in the company have signed new contracts with a reported substantial increase in pay, the former United States Champion instead chose to bet on himself and has elected to explore free agency. This was seemingly confirmed in subsequent days when the high-flyer lost the Speed Championship to Andrade and looked to be written off TV after a brutal attack by Bron Breakker on an episode of Raw, which saw Ricochet leave the arena in the back of an ambulance accompanied by fiancee and Raw ring announcer Samantha Irivin.
On June 30th, fans noticed on the company’s website that the former Intercontinental Champion had been removed from the active roster and into the alumni section. With the move taking place at the end of the month and it being previously reported that the Raw star’s contract was set to expire at some point in the summer, there was speculation that the high-flyer had reached the end of his contract, which has since been confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select as July 1st.
Where Will Ricochet Appear Next?
The former United States Champion is set to be one of the biggest free agents in 2024 when his current contract expires. With AEW being the second-biggest promotion in the world, many are expecting to see Ricochet join the promotion imminently given his history with members of the roster. According to a recent report, AEW has engaged in internal talks regarding the potential signing of Ricochet.
As the former WWE star’s deal expired at midnight on July 1st, an appearance at Forbidden Door was not a possibility. Additionally, while many in both companies are expecting the high-flyer to become All Elite very soon, an All In match against Will Ospreay “wasn’t planned” as of the past few weeks.
