Ricochet is reportedly set to leave WWE after notifying the company that he will not be renewing his contract this summer.
Six years after signing with WWE, Ricochet’s time with the company appears to be coming to an end. PWInsider reports that he will be leaving the promotion after informing them that he will not be renewing his contract when it expires this summer.
As a result, the 35-year-old is expected to be written out of storylines in the very near future. Ricochet has been regularly featured on Raw as of late, having headlined an episode of the red brand back in April and most recently losing to Bron Breakker on the June 3rd edition.
Ricochet has consistently held championship gold throughout most of his time in WWE: In NXT, he became the second-ever North American Champion while on the main roster, he has captured the Intercontinental, United States and Speed Championships.
The timing of the report is interesting as he lost the WWE Speed Championship less than 24 hours before. During a WWE Speed taping following Friday’s edition of SmackDown, Andrade shockingly dethroned him and captured his first WWE title in over four years in the process.
Will Ospreay Recently Encouraged Ricochet To Leave WWE
In an interview with Comicbook last month, AEW’s Will Ospreay was highly critical of how WWE was handling Ricochet – calling his booking “appalling”. He went on to encourage his former rival to “bet on himself”, even if that meant inciting a clash between them once more.
