Ricky Starks Set For In-Ring Return With Title Match At Fyter Fest

Ricky Starks

The combustible elements within Tean Taz are going to get the chance to scorch the group or douse the fire between them as Ricky Starks has his return match from injury set for Fyter Fest.

Starks will go one on one with Taz’s first recruit in All Elite Wrestling, Brian Cage with Cage’s FTW Title on the line at the match set to take place on night one of Fyter Fest.

Things have been tense in recent months within Team Taz with the first cracks showing after Cage and Starks lost their cinematic Street Fight to Sting and Darby Allin at Revolution. On the following Dynamite, Team Taz tried to intimidate the face-painted duo once again but Cage broke ranks to offer his respect to The Icon, Sting. A bewildered Taz could only look on as Starks seemed to take the words from Brian Cage the worst.

Since then things have been festering in the group despite Starks suffering from a neck injury that has seen him out of in-ring action since his match with Hangman Adam Page on the 21st of April edition of AEW Dynamite. Starks tried to interfere in Page’s match with Brian Cage at Double Or Nothing but Cage refused his teammates help and the chance to clock Page with the FTW Title belt. The actions from Cage might have been noble but he ultimately came unstuck with Page winning the match.

Starks tried the same tactic to help Powerhouse Hobbs overcome Page, Hobbs seemed more willing to accept the help but a furious Brian Cage emerged from the entranceway to reclaim his FTW Title that Starks had pilfered.

With Ricky Starks returning to medically-cleared status, Taz announced on AEW Dynamite that the family would try and settle their differences of night one of Fyter Fest on July 14th when Starks and Cage meet one-on-one for the FTW Title.

It will be interesting to see if the rest of Team Taz finds themselves involved with the match with Hobbs and Hook seemingly growing increasingly frustrated at Brian Cage as well.

So far, this is the only announced match for night one of Fyter Fest. The event will mark AEW’s first show outwith the state of Florida in over a year due to the pandemic, with the festivities due to take place in Austin, Texas.
