Ricky Starks isn’t too worried about all the ex-WWE stars coming to AEW.
Since the rise of AEW, many ex-WWE talents have appeared in the promotion. From CM Punk to Claudio Castagnoli, a number of former WWE Superstars have made the move across wrestling’s great divide.
While there has been an abundance of ex-WWE talent coming into the promotion, one star who doesn’t seem all that threatened by the recent arrivals is Ricky Starks. “The Stroke Daddy” has made alliances with other young prospects such as Powerhouse Hobbs and Brian Cage to gain an advantage in matches.
Speaking to Nick Hausman of Wrestling Inc., the 32-year-old star was asked whether he developed a chip on his shoulder since the arrival of so many ex-WWE stars. The FTW Champion didn’t seem all that deterred.
“No, not at all,” he replied. “I don’t believe in having a chip on my shoulder because that makes me a whiny little bitch. But what I do believe in is, these people who come in and the attitude of a higher-than, and we are a less-than, you get what I’m saying? I think it should be noted that there’s a reason those people don’t work there anymore, and we should look at the facts of why.”
Starks and Hobbs competed for the AEW World Tag Team Championships this past week on Fyter Fest. The team ended up losing the match to Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland.
