Ricky Starks has opened up about getting into a fight backstage in AEW.
The incident occurred following what was described as a “miscommunication” at Double or Nothing in 2022. On the night Starks teamed with Powerhouse Hobbs to take on the Jurassic Express and Swerve In Our Glory for the World Tag Team Titles.
Although the scuffle remained hidden at the time, it was reported in February that Starks had gotten into a fight with Swerve Strickland. AEW was plagued by backstage issues in 2022 with CM Punk, Adam Page, Andrade El Idolo, Sammy Guevara, and Eddie Kingston all getting involved in some kind of drama at various points.
During an appearance on Strickland’s Swerve City podcast, the pair recalled their altercation.
“Swerve: I’m not going to front, I’m going to be honest with you, it happens more often than you think.
Starks: Yeah, I’ve never seen a fight where anyone has won. It’s always a draw.
Swerve: Me and Ricky got into a fight.
Starks: Yeah, we did.
Swerve: It was after Double or Nothing. It was a little miscommunication thing. We had our little thing.
Starks: Right in that hallway.
Swerve: Right in the hallway, but the beauty of it, y’all didn’t know about it until now. Now, look were we are.
Starks: Judging by the reactions, y’all don’t give a sh*t. I like that, that’s great.”
