Ricky Saints’ recent WWE NXT botch forced match endings to change.
Ricky Saints was among the stars present for this week’s WWE NXT show at the 713 Music Hall in Houston, Texas. Unfortunately, the star suffered another loss after already losing to Ethan Page a couple of weeks ago at The Great American Bash for the North American Championship.
On NXT’s July 22 episode, Saints faced Jasper Troy. Both stars brawled outside the ring and took the fight up the ramp, and the latter sent the former to the stage. The move caused Ricky to roll down the ramp, which then collapsed. Jasper then hit Saints with a Senton and reached the ring before the 10 count, resulting in Ricky losing via Count Out.
As it turns out, a different winner was supposed to be crowned, and the sequence of the match’s conclusion went a different direction.
Ricky Saints Was Supposed To Win On This Week’s WWE NXT Show
According to Bryan Alvarez from the latest report on Wrestling Observer Radio, original plans between Saints and Troy’s match were that Jasper was supposed to hit the Senton, which would see both men crash through the ramp.
I did get it confirmed. This is what happened. They’re brawling on the ramp and Ricky is supposed to take a bump on the ramp and then Jasper is going to give him a senton and they will both crash through the ramp. Well, Ricky falls down and the damn ramp just breaks and he falls into a hole.”
However, due to the malfunction, Jasper delivered the Senton to Ricky instead and went to the ring before the count. As it turns out, Saints was also supposed to win, as WWE wants the feud to continue.
And so they pull the can, they like zoom in on Jasper. I guess everyone’s trying to figure out ‘What the hell are we going to do now?’ And so the answer is Jasper does a jumping senton into the hole and just crushed Ricky Starks (Saints). And then he goes back to the ring and Ricky is counted out. So hey, listen, they didn’t want to beat Ricky. They want the feud to continue. They came up with something. At least it was creative.”
