Ricky Saints To Challenge For First WWE Championship On NXT; AEW Departure Referenced

Ricky Saints could become a champion in WWE in a matter of days.

On the March 25th episode of NXT, Saints appeared in a pre-taped interview with Vic Joseph to discuss his wrestling journey, which was interrupted by North American Champion Shawn Spears. Noting that they have known each other a long time, Spears noted that Saints had not changed over the past year and his arrogance was “a plague.”

Saints retorted that he had to make enemies to get to the top but Spears stated that he is a champion because he has friends. Making his intentions clear, Saints made it clear that he was coming for the North American Title. The rest of The Culling then made their way into shot, followed by Spears stating that Saints “could always go back” before stopping himself and telling his challenger that he “burned every bridge.”

The match was later made official for the April 1st episode of NXT. Also scheduled for next week’s show is an appearance by General Manager Ava, who will address the state of the Women’s Championship scene on the brand. As Stephanie Vaquer kept hold of the NXT Women’s and Women’s North American Championships on the show, multiple stars are looking to be next in line.

Ricky Saints Was Previously A Champion In AEW

No stranger to holding championships in professional wrestling, the former Ricky Starks won multiple championships during his time in AEW. Along with capturing the non-sanctioned FTW Championship, the former AEW star also held the Tag Team Championships with Big Bill.
