Kevin Owens’ latest WWE tag-team partner Ricky shares how the team formed.
On the 13th September episode of SmackDown, fans witnessed popular independent wrestler Ricky Gibson pair up with Kevin Owens during his tag-team match against ‘A-Town Down Under’ comprising Austin Theory and Grayson Waller.
However, the team did not last long, as Randy Orton returned to the blue brand, and helped Owens defeat the former tag-team champions. During his latest appearance on the Busted Open Radio show, Ricky shared the details behind his partnership with Owens.
“Gabe Sapolsky reached out a couple weeks ago and said SmackDown and Raw were going to be in Seattle and Portland, it would be great if you could make it to Seattle for extra work. I just showed up. Like everyone does, you put on a suit, you go to catering, and you hope for the best. The difference was, I was walking around the hallways, and there is Kevin Owens walking around. He’s walking around like he has no clue what he’s doing.
I go, ‘Hey, what can do for you? Can I help you?’ It was perfect. I’m a tag team guy. When he was like, ‘I need a tag team partner.’ It was easy for me to step up and be like, ‘I’m your guy.'”
The Prizefighter was in dire need of a tag partner when Ricky Gibson of the Midnight Heat offered to help. Currently, going viral on the internet, Ricky is also rumored to be backstage on tonight’s RAW.

One half of the tag team, The Midnight Heat alongside Eddie Pearl, Ricky Gibson is one of the most popular independent wrestling stars in his zone. Gibson has been active in the pro-wrestling industry since 2005 and is scheduled to take on FTR on September 29 at a Prestige Wrestling event.
