Rick Boogs & Shinsuke Nakamura

Rick Boogs has revealed that Shinsuke Nakamura is currently being kept out of the ring by a hand injury.

Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Rick Boogs to defeat Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss at a live event on December 18th. While his last match on SmackDown came a week before.

During a recent appearance on the Out of Character podcast with Ryan Satin, Rick Boogs explained that Nakamura is currently dealing with a hand injury. Boogs said that the injury has meant that the pair haven’t begun to scratch the surface on what they can achieve together, as they’ve only wrestled together on a handful of occasions.

Boogs was initially asked whether he would be interested in breaking out on own as a singles wrestler. The guitar-wielding star said that while a split is inevitable, there’s more to come from the pair.

“I think it’s inevitable that it’s gonna happen. I’m not looking to like rush it by any means because I feel like me and Shin have not even scratched the surface yet of what we can do together, combining our forces,”

“We’re just getting cooking here. We’ve only had a couple of tag matches together. And he suffered a hand injury that’s kept him out for close to two months now it seems like. So, I’m kind of just looking forward as of right now for him to be healthy and cleared and then us just kick some tail. And then from there, down the road we’ll branch off. I’m in no rush with that.”

Shinsuke Nakamura won the Intercontinental Championship back in August defeating Apollo Crews. Despite holding the title for 150 days, the former World Champion has only defended it once, seeing of Crews once more in September.

Sami Zayn is the current number one contender of the Intercontinental Championship after winning a Battle Royal on Christmas Eve.

Meanwhile, Rick Boogs was in action on the most recent episode of SmackDown, where he defeated Zayn.
