Ric Flair Says Potential WrestleMania Clash Will Be As Big As Legendary Dwayne Johnson Match

WWE Ric Flair

WrestleMania has been home to some of the biggest matches in WWE history and Ric Flair has predicted that it could now play host to a match to top many of the greats.

The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) and Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestled three times at WrestleMania. In their first encounter at WrestleMania 15 Austin defeated Rock to win the WWE Championship while in the final match between the pair at WrestleMania 19 Rock finally pinned the Texas Rattlesnake. Although unknown to most at the time, that match proved to be the last of Austin’s full-time career.

However, it is their match in the main event of WrestleMania X-Seven that is remembered above all others. In fact it’s remembered as one of the biggest matches ever. The two men were arguably at the peak of their powers and headlined what many consider to be the best WrestleMania of all-time. The match also saw Austin’s infamous heel turn where he aligned with long-time nemesis Vince McMahon.

Ric Flair – “They’re The Two Best Athletes Ever”

Speaking on his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair discussed the potential merits of a match between his daughter Charlotte Flair and Bianca Belair. Flair praised his daughter and Belair as two of the best female athletes he had ever seen, adding that a match between them could be as big as Rock vs. Austin if built correctly.

“I have no inclination as to whether or not this will happen, but I think if Ashley [Charlotte Flair] wrestles Bianca Belair at WrestleMania, it’ll be as big as Austin and Rock if they build it right. They are the two best athletes ever, that I’ve seen in my career, to ever be in the same women’s division. There are some other great workers, but for pure athletic ability, Bianca Belair and Ashley stand out. They could be the two best athletes in the company. I’m not kidding. Both are legitimate Division 1 athletes with credentials,”

Bianca Belair is the current Raw Women’s Champion, most recently defending her title against Bayley at Extreme Rules in a Ladder Match.

Charlotte Flair hasn’t been seen on WWE television since being defeated by Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash in May. It has been reported that the star is expected back soon, while her husband Andrade El Idolo claimed her absence was due to “personal reasons.”
