Ric Flair has revealed that he feared his antics on social media cost him the respect of Roman Reigns.
In recent years Roman Reigns has become an important figure in the WWE locker room. He’s been with the company for a number of years and stands as one of the biggest stars in the entire industry.
Ric Flair Comments On Relationship With Roman Reigns
After Becky Lynch rocketed to superstardom in 2018 as ‘The Man,’ Ric Flair took issue with the star using the moniker. Flair claimed that he owned the trademark to the phrase, something which ended in a legal dispute with WWE. While all of this was going on, Flair began taking shots at Lynch on social media, something which continued on and off until early 2022.
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, To Be The Man, Flair has now revealed that he feared the whole saga had caused him to lose Roman Reigns’ respect.
“I was concerned that I had lost the respect of Roman Reigns. Because when that whole ‘Man’ thing went upside down and all that and I had to file the trademark, whatever transpired, it means nothing now. I think people, I heard that he… and I walked right up to him. I said, ‘Can I have a minute of your time?’ and I said, ‘Hey, it means a lot to me.’ I mean, you want the kids [current WWE Superstars] to look forward to you coming, not, ‘Oh man, here he comes again.’ Does that make sense? Especially when you have a daughter who is at the most elite position she could be in.”
Ric Flair hasn’t appeared on WWE television since the abrupt end of his storyline with Lacey Evans back in February 2021. The Nature Boy left the company that August at his own request. Flair recently confirmed that he will be present at the special 30th anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw in January 2023.
This comes after the release of a new documentary looking at his life and career on Peacock titled “Woooooo! Becoming Ric Flair.”
