On July 31st 2022, Ric Flair wrestled in what was advertised as his last match.
Since that outing Flair has made conflicting comments about whether that truly was his last bout, admitting shortly after, that he regretted saying it would be his last. The Nature Boy has also discussed how much he struggled during the match and what caused the issues.
During the bout where he teamed with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett he struggled badly and appeared confused. The two-time WWE Hall of Fame revealed that he passed out twice during the match, something he put down to dehydration.
Ric Flair Discusses His Final Match
On a recent episode of his podcast, To Be The Man, Flair said that he was “begging” to do his final match again so that the could right some of the things that went wrong. While some took this to mean that Flair may literally be planning to do another “final” match, the man himself has now stated that this isn’t the case. Discussing the speculation Flair said that he has “no desire” to wrestle again.
“I don’t know why they keep saying I’m begging for another match,” Flair said. “What I have said to you repeatedly is I wish I could redo that match. I’m not begging for another match. I don’t want to wrestle again. I have no desire. I wish I had that match to do over again is what I’ve said repeatedly.”
It has been confirmed that Ric Flair will be returning to WWE television on the special 30th anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw on January 23rd. It will be the first time that Flair has appeared for WWE since leaving the company in August 2021. Flair will be featured on the show alongside The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Shawn Michaels and many more.
