Ric Flair has addressed The Rock’s latest blockbuster announcement.
As reported by The Wrap, The Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions has announced its latest upcoming project that is related to wrestling, a biopic on none other than The Nature Boy. The team behind the as-yet-untitled movie is the same collaborative effort as Fighting With My Family, the biopic on former WWE Superstar Paige, who has since signed to AEW as Saraya. The well-received title documented Paige’s journey from Norwich, England to her title triumph the night after WrestleMania 30.
Issuing a statement to The Wrap, The Hollywood megastar described Flair as his hero and how much this project means to him:
“As a kid who grew up in professional wrestling, I idolized, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair,” Johnson said in a statement. “He was a hero to me. And once I broke into the wrestling business and began to spill my own sweat and blood – my reverence for Ric turned to respect. Because I realized just how rare and impossible it is to disrupt the wrestling business, culture and truly change the game – and that’s exactly what Ric Flair did. This project is personal, and we can’t wait to tell his unbelievable story. As always, thank you for the house, Ric.”
A video package announcing the “lifetime in a making” project was uploaded to social media by Flair, highlighting some of the key moments of the Hall of Famer’s career. Thankful to see his life story portrayed on the big screen, Flair thanked Rock for making his dream come true:
Thank You @TheRock For This Incredible Opportunity. Your Friendship Means The World To Me! This Is Truly The Dream Of A Lifetime! WOOOOO! @SevenBucksProd
Responding to Flair on social media, Rock noted that the project is only possible due to Flair’s accomplishments in the professional wrestling realm:
You’re welcome brother and our friendship means the world to me as well. Remember, this is all possible not because of anything I’m doing – it’s all possible because of everything YOU accomplished in our business of pro wrestling. Honored to bring your unbelievable life to the big screen. Let’s get to work. WOO! @SevenBucksProd
