Hours before the actual announcement is made, Ric Flair has teased that a current WWE Superstar may be his final opponent.
The question of who, exactly, will face Ric Flair on 31 July has been the talking point of pro wrestling for the last couple of months. Reports have stated that the likes of FTR, The Rock’n’Roll Express, and even Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat could be involved in the match but now, ‘The Nature Boy’ has sent fans into a frenzy.
With the opponent(s) due to be confirmed at 6:05pm EST (11:05pm BST for those in the United Kingdom), Ric Flair has taken to Twitter to tease a WWE Superstar as his final in-ring adversary. He teased that he’d be “coming after one of your own”, implying that WWE will have some sort of involvement at the event:
“On July 31, I’m Coming After One Of Your Own. #WWERaw
And Tonight At 6:05, The Entire World Will Find Out. #RicFlairsLastMatch”

There’s no word yet as to who this will be, though looking at the current WWE roster, Ric Flair’s former Evolution teammate Randy Orton would make the most sense, had it not been for his injury. Other contenders include AJ Styles, who Flair managed during his time in IMPACT Wrestling.
The 16-time World Champion officially confirmed his return to pro wrestling on 16 May, with the Ric Flair’s Last Match card being confirmed for Sunday, 31 July. Emanating from Nashville and airing live on Fite TV, the event will be promoted under the Jim Crockett Promotions banner as part of Starrcast V.
Flair last wrestled in September 2011, losing to Sting on a broadcast of IMPACT Wrestling’s weekly show. He’s been training with AEW’s Jay Lethal in preparation for his return, although a falling out has been reported between the former TNA rivals.
