Over his five-decade career, Ric Flair has seen and done it all, but there is one thing in pro wrestling that annoys him more than anything else.
Ric Flair wrestled his last match on July 31st, 2022, teaming with his son-in-law, AEW star Andrade El Idolo, to take on Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal in Nashville, Tenessee.
During the bout, the Nature Boy pulled out all his dirty tricks including eye pokes and brass knuckles, but kept to the mat, mainly using chops and punches throughout and avoiding big bumps. He got the win in the end when he knocked Jarrett out cold with the knuckles and locked him in the Figure-Four.
Flair’s aversion to taking many bumps in the bout was sensible considering his age and general health, but if he was younger he would no doubt have taken as many as the match called for and sold them in true Nature Boy style.
Ric Flair takes issue with the way modern wrestlers take big bumps
When it comes to modern wrestling, Ric Flair has revealed his biggest pet peeve is the way a lot of wrestlers react to big bumps in their matches.
Speaking on his podcast, To Be The Man, Flair explained that his main irritation is when wrestlers get up from a move before the person carrying it out has a chance to.
“Well, the biggest, I don’t see it with the women as much, but with the guys, if you take a big bump, and you are the recipient of the big bump, right? How are you back up on your feet faster than the guy that gave it to you?
“I just can’t understand it, for what? To take another big bump to get up faster than the guy that gave it to you again.”
Ric Flair is set to return to WWE TV for the first time since 2021 when he makes a special appearance on the Raw 30th Anniversary show on January 23rd.
