After it was announced that Ric Flair will be stepping back in the ring one last time, the man himself has offered an insight into his preparations for the big night.

On May 16th it was confirmed that Ric Flair will be stepping back in the ring for one final match. Flair hasn’t wrestled since competing against Sting back in September 2011 during his stint with TNA.

The announcement was met with a mix of intrigue, criticism, and concern, due to the Nature Boy being 73-years-old and having suffered a number of serious health issues in recent years.

Speaking in a new interview about his comeback, Flair revealed that he has consulted “40 different doctors” before deciding to don his wrestling boots one last time. During the conversation with TMZ Sports, the 16-time World Champion said that he currently has no aches and pains.

“I don’t have any aches or pains. I know I’ve had the health issues, but I asked 40 different doctors, and I decided I’m only gonna listen to one. Not necessarily the one that was gonna give me the right answer, but that I felt the most comfortable with,”

Flair added that he is aiming to make amends for his last outings, suggesting he “can’t stand” the last couple of matches that he had.

“I couldn’t stand the last couple of matches I had. Couldn’t stand the last year I had,”

The WWE Hall of Famer also admitted that he knows he’ll never be 100% again, but thinks he’s operating at towards 85% of his best.

“I’ll never run at 100% again. But, I’ll be running at 80, 85%,”

It had initially been reported that the match at Starrcast would feature Ric Flair and FTR taking on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and Ricky Steamboat. However, Steamboat has since revealed that he turned down the invitation to come out of retirement.
