At AEW Revolution, Will Ospreay, who recently transitioned to AEW after concluding his commitments with NJPW, delivered a stellar performance, securing a victory over Konosuke Takeshita which earned him the praise of none other than Ric Flair.
The event also marked the farewell match for Sting, attracting numerous wrestling legends, including Ric Flair, who had a profound impact on Ospreay during the post-show media scrum. Ospreay candidly shared his encounter with Flair, recounting the moment when the wrestling icon commended him, stating:
‘You are everything I’ve heard of and more. You are one of the best wrestlers in the world,’ and that coming from him, it’s just like, ‘Thank you, Mr. Ric Flair.’ Thank you very much.
Expressing his admiration for Flair’s influence on the wrestling industry, Ospreay emphasised the significance of Flair’s endorsement, portraying it as a moment of profound validation. Reflecting on the pervasive influence of Flair’s legacy, Ospreay underscored the far-reaching impact of Flair’s contributions to the wrestling world, acknowledging the indelible mark left by the legendary figure.
Will Ospreay has since revealed that Ric Flair’s compliment came at a bizarre time for the star.
What Alternative Plan Did Ric Flair Pitch For Sting’s Last Match?
Ric Flair reportedly wanted to turn heel on Sting during his final match. Conrad Thompson told a story on his podcast of how Flair tried to get him to pitch the idea to Tony Khan but Thompson told Flair since he was actively involved in the storyline he should be the one to speak to Khan. Flair apparently had tried to convince Khan that was the way to go but Khan ultimately decided against using Flair more than what he already had planned.
Ric Flair has also addressed the possibility of Charlotte Flair returning to WWE early.
