Although he failed to capture a World Championship in 2022, Seth Rollins had one of the most acclaimed years of his career.
The star has earned plaudits across the board for his in-ring performances while his over-the-top character proved one of the most consistent talking points on Monday Night Raw. To cap off the year Rollins was named the ‘Wrestler of the Year’ by Sports Illustrated.
One of the highlights of Rollins’ 2022 was his long-running feud with Cody Rhodes. The pair battled three times, with Rhodes winning on every occasion, but Rollins was routinely impressive in defeat.
The feud began with the American Nightmare’s stunning return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 where he was unveiled as Rollins’ mystery opponent. This was followed up by another match WrestleMania Backlash and a third bout at Hell In A Cell. In the lead up to the match inside the ‘Devil’s Playground’ Rhodes suffered a serious pectoral injury but pushed through regardless. However, the star underwent surgery shortly after the event and hasn’t wrestled since.
Ric Flair Praises Seth Rollins
Speaking on a recent episode of his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair has now joined in those heaping praise on the former World Champion. Flair explained that he was impressed with how Rollins performed while being defeated by Rhodes.
“I give Seth all the credit in the world, it was great. And you know, if a guy wants, it doesn’t hurt Seth. It makes Cody, and the great ones are gonna get beat every day and still be great. That’s my take on it, and losing a fall here or there then they give it back to them, and I thought it was a great match. I thought both matches they had were good…”
Ric Flair’s comments come after he also suggested that Seth Rollins was mad at him following his spat with Becky Lynch.
