Ric Flair has named who he thinks is “the greatest worker” in the history of wrestling ahead of his return to WWE for the first episode of RAW in 2021.
Flair has opened up about how two men are in “a class by themselves” but believes one man is out there at the top. Flair joins over 20 iconic names such as Hulk Hogan, Kurt Angle, Beth Phoenix and Torrie Wilson among others, the 16-time World Champion has opened up about what makes a legend, with Flair saying Triple H “exemplifies legend more than anybody” when discussing his former Evolution team-mate.
Speaking with WWE UK, Ric Flair named Shawn Michaels as the “greatest worker” in wrestling history, calling the Heartbreak Kid a “class act” and reminiscing about his retirement match against HBK.
“It’s not arguable anymore, Shawn is the greatest worker in the history of our business. I think everybody would give that to him. He carried me in my farewell retirement match, no matter how many people want to think I was holding up my end of it, I was trying to get through it. At that point in my career I did not have the self-confidence that I needed to have to rise to the occasion and he made it look like I did. I’ve looked back and actually had time the past couple of years to watch some of Shawn’s matches that he had while I was at WCW and Shawn just is a class act.”
One man who does belong in that class, too, is Ric Flair’s legendary opponent – Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat!
“For my money, in the ring, I’d put him and Ricky Steamboat in a class by themselves. I always liked being around Shawn. As far as a guy in the ring I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody better.”
Ric Flair has also opened up about Triple H, saying The Game “exemplifies” what it is to be a legend. Over 20 legends have been confirmed to appear at RAW Legends Night. You can check out the full list here.
