Ric Flair has claimed that Kevin Dunn will be remaining in position for the foreseeable future.
Kevin Dunn joined WWE in 1984 and was promoted to the position of Executive Producer in 1993, a role he continues to perform to this day. Dunn was given the title Executive Vice President of Television Production in 2003 and has become known for having a close relationship with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
Meanwhile, Mike Mansury who worked directly underneath Dunn recently left WWE to join AEW. It was believed that Mansury had been positioned as Dunn’s successor for whenever he decided to step down.
Ric Flair Reveals Conversation With Kevin Dunn
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, To Be The Man, Ric Flair discussed both Mansury and Dunn. The Nature Boy said that AEW signing the former was a “big hire,” while he says Kevin Dunn is going nowhere.
“I didn’t know that, wow,” Flair said on To Be The Man when he learned of AEW hiring Mansury. “That’s a big hire for Tony [Khan]. I’m glad to hear that. Here’s what happened with Mike, he was going to replace Kevin Dunn, but people don’t understand, Kevin ain’t going anywhere. He’s got it as bad as I’ve had it.
I just spoke with him yesterday, why would he walk away from something he enjoys? That’s what saddens me about Vince (McMahon). Not that Hunter [Triple H] and Stephanie (McMahon) were taking over, but when you do something like that for so long, like myself, it’s hard to walk away from. Mike is great, I’m happy for him, that’s a big deal for Tony. Congratulations.”
It was heavily rumoured that Dunn would be leaving WWE during the summer following the retirement of Vince McMahon. However, he has remained in position, working alongside Triple H.
