Ric Flair Explains Why He’s Supporting Cody Rhodes Over John Cena In WWE WrestleMania 41 Main Event

Ric Flair has made his feelings on the WrestleMania 41 main event very clear.

On April 20th, Cody Rhodes will put the Undisputed Championship on the line against John Cena in the main event of the show. If Cena defeats Rhodes, he will win a record-breaking 17th World Championship and surpass The Nature Boy in having the most titles in company history.

In the lead-up to the match, Cena has promised to erase the legacy of Flair and retire as champion. While appearing on Busted Open Radio, Flair explained why he wanted to see Rhodes ultimately win the match, adding that he doesn’t believe Cena wants to retire as champion:

“Cody should retain, because he’s on a roll. To be honest with you, I don’t think John wants to retire with the title. John is a company guy. He wants what’s best for business.”

When asked about his thoughts on Cena breaking his record, Flair responded that while Charlotte Flair would be his first choice, he would still be happy to see Cena pick up the accolade:

“I would be extremely happy for John, and I wish I could be there live to get in the ring and shake his hand. I obviously wanted Charlotte to break the record but if John breaks it, man, more power to him. I can’t say enough good about John Cena. He is a phenomenal guy. He has put his life, his soul, everything there is possible, just like I did, into the business for the last 20 years.”

Elsewhere, a wrestling veteran has blasted Ric Flair as a “d*ckhead” and an “a*shole.”

Will Ric Flair Be At WrestleMania?

Although Flair has stated that he would love to be a part of the torch passing ceremony should Cena win the record-breaking 17th World Championship, this would not be possible due to contractual reasons. In the same interview, Ric Flair noted that if he wasn’t working for Tony Khan then he would be there.
