Ric Flair has revealed his disappointment at finding out that Stephanie McMahon had left WWE.
Stephanie McMahon had been working as co-CEO alongside Nick Khan since Vince McMahon retired in July 2022. However, in early January Vince returned to WWE’s Board of Directors and despite pledges that there wouldn’t be changes, Stephanie announced her resignation on January 10th.
The move caught many by surprise and was taken by others to mean that Vince McMahon would be seeking to have greater control over the company.
Ric Flair Praises Stephanie McMahon
Speaking on his podcast, To Be The Man, Ric Flair stated that he was disappointed that Stephanie had left. He added that she was well-liked backstage, especially by the women’s roster. Flair went on to recall Stephanie introducing Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone) on Monday Night Raw as part of the ‘Women’s Revolution.’
“Yes, and actually disappointed. I like Stephanie a lot. I just put up a tweet about yesterday. She is one of the 10 best heels in the history of the business. I got no problem saying that. I mean, I thought it out, and I shot that over to her. And she’s there with a smiley face on but she was that damn good man. And I mean, obviously, she was a phenomenal ambassador.
I mean, I know that Ashley and all the girls that worked with her think the world of her. I mean, you know, I remember that night. It was a last-minute decision. We were in Atlanta, when she introduced Ashley, Becky and Sasha. Do you remember that? But to have that as opposed to the ring announcer made all the difference in the world because she carries that kind of weight. And I think it’s a loss but at the same time, her kids are getting older. I understand.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, right there. That was when I was there. That’s huge. That was a big, big night for all three of those girls. And I mean, Stephanie was the perfect one to do it. I was there, so I know it was a last-minute decision. But I mean, I think having her do it, as opposed to someone else, made it even bigger. And those three girls have revolutionised it, they did revolutionise the business.”
Ric Flair will be back on WWE television on January 23rd for the 30th anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw. Flair hasn’t appeared for WWE since leaving the company back in August 2021.
