Ric Flair hasn’t spoken to Steve Austin in quite some time.
When asked to name their wrestling Mount Rushmore, many fans would place both Ric Flair and Steve Austin on their list. Undoubtedly two of the most successful wrestlers to ever step inside the squared circle, the two men have shown great respect for one another in the past, with Flair even claiming that Austin is the greatest wrestler of all time.
However, during a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, Flair revealed that he and Austin haven’t spoken in quite some time despite being close in the past.
“I was talking to Ashley (Charlotte) yesterday and I said it’s just a whole new time in life. It’s funny but – I don’t mean funny by we don’t talk to him but, like Steve has just disappeared. I would talk to him once a week, twice a week, once a month. I haven’t talked to Steve in a year.”
“It’s A Whole New Era” – Ric Flair
Continuing, Flair said that he occasionally speaks with legends such as The Undertaker and Mick Foley, but he admits that his generation’s time has come and gone in the world of wrestling.
“I talk to Taker occasionally and I see Foley at signings and HBK but if you look at all the guys that were around, the names – the generational guys you would call talent or the great workers or biggest stars or Mr. WrestleMania or whatever, they’re all gone. It’s a whole new era guys.”
While Austin may not be reaching out to Flair, he is active on his Instagram page, largely posting wholesome updates about his home life and his cats. Austin was rumored to be involved in WrestleMania 40, but that appearance did not come to pass.
