Ric Flair Praises Bryan Danielson vs Hangman Page – “You Gentlemen Set A New Bar”

Bryan Danielson and Hangman Adam Page have received critical acclaim for their hour-long draw at AEW Winter Is Coming and Ric Flair says the two stars have raised the standards of wrestling.

At AEW Winter Is Coming Hangman Adam Page finally got what he has been longing for since winning the title at Full Gear and got his hands on the menacing Bryan Danielson.

Danielson had promised to kick the head in off various members of Page’s friends in The Dark Order in recent weeks and did precisely that angering the Virginian cowboy.

The two men opened the second annual AEW Winter Is Coming show and the match they put on did not disappoint. The American Dragon controlled much of the action, causing Page to bleed and injuring the champion’s shoulder as the match wore on.

With a one hour time limit to play with, fans were off their seats when Page hit Danielson with his trademark Buckshot Lariat. As Hangaman attempted to crawl over and make the cover, the bell rang signalling the time limit had expired and the match ended in a draw – meaning Page retained his title.

One man who is no stranger to hour long draws is The Nature Boy Ric Flair. During his time as the travelling NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Flair competed in sixty minute ties with the likes of Ricky Steamboat, Magnum TA, and Kerry Von Erich.

Taking to social media, Ric Flair complimented both Danielson and Page, saying they set a new bar for hour-long matches:

“I’ve Done So Many Hour Draws, Some Great, Some Average! Tonight, You Gentlemen Set A New Bar!! The Wrestling World Can Learn From @theAdamPage & @bryandanielson! CONGRATULATIONS! WOOOOO! @AEW #AEWDynamite”

Also at AEW Winter Is Coming, MJF recaptured the Dynamite Diamond ring for the third year on the trot with more than a little help from Team Taz’s Ricky Starks.
