Ric Flair vs. Dutch Mantell probably wasn’t the feud that fans were expecting in WrestleMania season but the wrestling world is full of surprises.
The Nature Boy wrestled his last match in July 2022 and was heavily criticised for his performance. Flair struggled throughout the match and has since admitted that he passed out while competing.
The bout was recently ranked among the worst of 2022 by readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while many have suggested that it should never have taken place.
Speaking on his Story Time with Dutch Mantell podcast, the veteran took aim at Flair over his performance and the match itself. In his blunt assessment, Mantell said that Flair was “full of sh*t.”
“I’ve had people write me and, seriously, people thought he was gonna die. I think he passed out a time or two in there. He doesn’t even remember it. Ric Flair now is trying to leave a legacy and he should have left it alone, or changed a lot of things in that match, because his legacy now is tarnished. I don’t know. Ric Flair is full of s**t and always has been.”
Upon hearing the comments, Flair wasted little time in hitting back, dismissing Mantell as a “miserable old wrestler” who never had a legacy. He followed that up by saying that he’s made Mantell more famous with a single tweet than he has ever been before.
“Thank God They Used The Word Veteran & Didn’t Call You A Legend. Just A Miserable Old Wrestler Trying To Make A Buck. And BTW, You Never Had A Legacy To Begin With. WOOOOO!”
Ric Flair Reveals How Much He Earned From His Last Match
Speaking on an episode of his own podcast, Flair recently defended the match, noting that he made $300,000 for the blood-soaked outing.
