Ric Flair hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since the abrupt ending of his storyline against Lacey Evans in February 2021.
The story was dropped after Evans revealed that she was pregnant with her second child. In the months that followed it was revealed that Flair was less than enamoured with the creative, and eventually asked to leave the company, which he did so that August.
Shortly after his exit an episode of Dark Side of the Ring aired which was highly critical of Flair, and featured claims of sexual misconduct. As a result he was removed from WWE’s signature open and his merchandise pulled from the online store. He has since been added back into the opening signature. Despite this, the Nature Boy hadn’t worked with WWE directly until the release of his new documentary on Peacock titled “Woooooo! Becoming Ric Flair.”
However, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer has since announced that he will be present for the special 30th anniversary edition of Monday Night Raw on January 23rd.
Ric Flair Attends SmackDown
As his relationship with WWE now appears mended, Flair was backstage to watch his daughter Charlotte win the SmackDown Women’s Title on December 30th. The report from PWInsider adds that he was there with Gerald Brisco.
The show saw Charlotte Flair return to the ring for the first time since being defeated by Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash in May. The star suffered a storyline broken arm during the match to write her off television for her wedding to Andrade El Idolo.
On December 30, Rousey had already defended her SmackDown Women’s Title against Raquel Rodriguez when she was challenged by the returning Flair. As pride got the better of her, the former UFC star agreed but was beaten in less than a minute. The victory marked Flair’s 14th Women’s Title win.
In the aftermath of the defeat Ronda Rousey took to social media to fire back at her critics, claiming they can’t do what she can.
