AEW star Andrade El Idolo has been missing from TV since October and recently revealed that he underwent surgery on a torn pectoral muscle.
Despite the injury, the original reason for his absence is that he was suspended for a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara. The confrontation between the two came after comments made by the former WWE star in an interview where he said his rival had complained about being hit too hard during a match.
This led to the two having words on social media, and both men were spoken to on October 4th. Despite the pair saying there would be no issues, Andrade allegedly confronted Guevara, throwing punches on October 5th.
However, Andrade has put the time away to good use, getting the surgery he has needed since joining RUSH and Dragon Lee in a Trios Championship qualifying match against The Elite back in August. During the match, he was part of a Six-Man Suplex which resulted in the torn muscle.
Ric Flair provides update on Andrade El Idolo’s injury
Now, his father-in-law, Ric Flair, has given an update on the injury. During his ‘To Be The Man’ podcast, Flair touched on Andrade’s AEW run so far, noting he thinks he’s better as a singles performer.
“I like the stuff with Matt Hardy. But, I don’t think that they use him properly myself. But I’m going to be obviously biased. I think he has a much better singles performer than he is tag match.
Ric Flair went on to give an update on his injury, stating that it was a “sensitive tear” that will leave Andrade out of action for “a while”.
“And you know, it’s to be determined. I don’t know that, I know that’s a very sensitive tear, it was a bad tear. So he’s going to be out a while with it.”
